In the past ten years a new kind of steel, with a high yield strentgh, has
been developped. These materials have already been used in
crane-construction.
Rules for designing with these materials are not yet given by standards.
In this report an attempt is made to find out whether sufficient data is
available in the literature to justify the use of these materials. This is
done by trying to find data about acceptable stresses and metallurgical
aspects of the use of steels with a high yield strentgh.
In this report the new design-method with Fracture Mechanics is investigated
also.
