Report TT.1262, Transport Engineering and Logistics.
In this report a survey is presented of the literature concerning the
calculation of the forces working In feeding-areas of belt-conveyors.
First the most unfavourable situation, direct vertical feeding, is discussed.
In that situation a large amount of energy is required for conducting and
accelerating the mass-flow, while the wear of the belt is considerable too.
After that, some possibilities of indirect feeding are given, Finally a
number of measures for further diminishing the wear and the required
energy is mentioned.
