A review is made of the cargo-handling techniques usual in the inland
waterway transport in the Netherlands. For that purpose the types of
ships and the most important flows of goods are made up. A comparison
was made with the cargo handling techniques abroad. Finally possible
techniques are proposed for different products and goods.
