In the traction-drive-system of elevators, wear of the components traction
sheave and steel rope depends on a number of wear processes.
The level on which these processes do appear depends on several factors of
influence, sucn as contact pressure, creep of the rope over the sheave, the
existence of abrasive particles, the use of lubricants and material
properties such as structure and hardness.
These factors finally determine the lifetime of the components.
