This report describes an research study on the influence of future developments
on the distribution of thermal coal for Dutch power plants. The developments
relate to:
- an increasing demand for thermal coal in the Netherlands;
- higher demands made on the composition of the coal blend in order to
reduce the environmental effects of the use of thermal coal for power
generation.
A computer simulation model was made to serve as a tool during the inquiry.
The model can represent various situations of coal distribution, thus
providing an insight into the differences between the situations.
