P.P. Schipper De Lemniscaatkraan. Een voorontwerpstudie.
Masters thesis, Report 92.3.TT.2940, Transport Engineering and Logistics.

Since several decades the Machinery manufacturer Figee, Haarlem, manufactures floating grabcranes; double jib cranes of the lemniscate type.

For the development of the hoist capacity from 36 tons to 50 tons, a choice has to be made between a scale expansion or a new type of crane.
Thereby trying to achieve a minimum need for powers for luffing and slewing. The load path, the angle of the pontoon, the balancing and the driving are essential.

A new type of crane is chosen. The new lemniscate crane is developed with the theory of the instantaneous kinematics.
The jib system is changed and expanded. The total crane can be lowered. The load path is more flat and the angle of the pontoon is reduced. This saves luffing and slewing power. The balancing of the jib system and the crank-connecting rod mechanism on the back jib will not be changed.
