Vraaggenerator voor een distributieketen.
Computer program,
Report 92.3.LT.2950, Transport Technology, Logistic Engineering.
In a distribution chain three levels can be distinguished: the distributor,
the retailer and the consumer.
The final demand of the consumer can follow three types of patterns:
- a constant demand;
- a demand with a trend component;
- a demand with a seasonal component.
The size of the final consumers' demand is seen as normally distributed. There
can be a hidden stock at the retailer. Through these two facts, it is not
easy to forecast the demand at the distributor.
With the help of a demand generator, developed in the ESPRIT-project, it is
possible to forecast the demand at the distributor. This demand generator is
translated from C++ into Turbo Pascal 6.0. The program is supplemented in such
a way that seasonality can be taken into account.
The number of periods in a year can be adjusted. Every period is given an
indexnumber which reflects the ratio of the demand in that period and the
year-demand.
At this way seasonal corrections can be applied on the generated final demand
of the consumer. Next the seasonal demand at the distributor can be generated
per period.
