This paper studies the possibility to lighten the forestay. The method used
is supporting the forestay on several places with stay cables. Moreover it is
tried to design the forestay in a way resulting in an 'in-line' transmission
of forces.
Based on the experiences a reduction of the mass of the forestay seems to be
possible. For a detailed design, further investigations are recommend and
necessary.
