In tunnel boring machines with EPB-shield often a srew conveyor is used for
transport of soil out of the work chamber. However, it is not known why this
conveyor is working in this situation.
In the literature we could not find sufficient theoretical models which
describe the flow of material through the screw conveyor.
This thesis gives a new theoretical model of the 100% filled screw conveyor,
which also has an angle of inclination. The model is written in a few
computer program files and can be used by the software called MATLAB.
From the computer program we know that the pressure in the work chamber does
not influence on the installed driving power of the screw. Calculation of two
applications of the screw conveyor tells us that the model is probably a good
model, because the results are nearly the same as the results given in
