Accelerated walkway systems
Literature survey,
Report 2001.TT.5542, Transport Engineering and Logistics.
In this report the conventional walkway systems and the newer accelerated
walkway systems are discussed. Technical models and the manufacturers of
these walkway systems are catalogued along with descriptions for their use
and the demands placed on them. Additionally, safety and security
standards during maintenance and operation are detailed to protect people
and objects from damage. When a walkway system is no langer feasible, a
switch to faster means of transport becomes necessary. Possiblities of
transport methods for various distances are discussed and the potential
use of walkway systems as a link between those modes of tansportation is
investigated. Finally, determining the motor power requirements of a
walkway system is explained.
