Local authorities are banning existing transport vehicles from the
inner city areas. This causes an increasing problem for the inner city
stores and supermarkets, because they face distribution problems with
their current distribution network. A plausible solution to be considered
is a new logistical concept, using a new uniform loadunit, called the
Citybox. The objective of this study is to design a distribution
vehicle for inner city use that can deliver two Cityboxes from a
transshipment point outside the city to the inner city stores and supermarkets.
